About Me

Having studied Vocals at Leeds College of music for three years with Dane Chalfin (vocal coach and voice rehabilitation specialist) I have gained a thorough understanding of the voice, covering techniques used to develop a professional rock and pop vocal.
I have worked with a number of music specialist companies providing 1-1 and group lessons for primary and secondary schools, teaching Vocals, Musical theatre, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Songwriting and Ukelele, both curriculum and non-curriculum. I love to create a fun and energetic learning experience for all my students.
I have been running and performing in a function band for 8 years taking bookings for weddings and private parties. Also, I have extensive performance experience in many different styles across the country and in Europe.
My extra skills include DJing and music production. I utilise my music production skills in lessons using GarageBand to record students singing. This not only gives the student the experience of what it would be like being a professional recording artist but this also gives them the opportunity to critically analyse their own voice by listening to themselves back. They may also use the recordings for applications and auditions.
With grade 5 theory from ABRSM I can incorporate sight-reading into singing lessons to give the students that extra skill of being able to read music. This will open up many more professional and exclusive opportunities for them.
I also play Guitar, Piano and Bass Guitar to a good level. The benefits of this means that students who also want to accompany themselves while singing can add this to their lesson.
Having been a songwriter and artist for 10 years now I have played stages with acts such as Jamie Cullum and have had my songs played on BBC Radio 1 as well as winning an Unsigned Music Awards. I feel that I am an accomplished songwriter. Students wishing to take up songwriting can come to me for lessons or just to brush up the songs they have already written.
I feel very confident teaching students of all ages and groups of all sizes. I have taken classes of up to 40 and feel that I can confidently lead a class and manage behaviour well. I have put together a choir for the musical Annie and directed their performance alongside a drama teacher. This was one of my proudest moments as a singing teacher. To see my pupils gain confidence and progress is one of the most
rewarding experiences.
