Teaching has been a passion of mine since I first encountered working with children in a nursery environment. Struggling to find my niche, I worked in various support roles as academic and behavioural support in Primary and Middle Schools for English, Maths and Science subjects. Following the completion of my BSc and PGCE, I have specialised in Biology and General Science in Secondary Education.
Having worked in education for over 8 years and held roles as Head of Science, Head of Biology, Key Stage 3 Coordinator and involved in various roles in STEM, Curriculum Design, Assistant examiner and involved in exam writing for Cambridge International Examinations.
I find myself uniquely placed and thankful for the opportunity to work and to develop students from the moment they enter education in Year 1 all the way to Year 13. Students ultimately must start somewhere and to be interested in Science starts from within and true enjoyment of the subject can be nurtured and supported through education and parental support.
Science provides a unique way of looking at the world and students love to investigate the “why?” and have an infinite amount of questions.
Teaching Science is always interesting as you never know what questions may be asked or the results that may be shown from an investigation.
I believe it is essential to treat education as a continuous flow of learning and not sectioned into various academic settings.
