I have been teaching in informal and formal environments for over ten years and am very experienced in online teaching, where I find that students respond well my friendly assurances and guidance. I am passionate about my subjects and students find that my own excitement about their learning is encouraging.
I believe in communicating ideas in whatever way is most suitable for the student and will use a combination of pedagogic techniques including active listening, psychologically informed environment and student led structures. I can also approach subjects with rigorous attention to detail.
I currently lecture at Cardiff and Cardiff Metropolitan University in Drama, Journalism, Media and Culture. Previously to this Higher Education setting I have taught in FE Colleges English and Drama subjects and within primary and secondary schools a variety of Arts subjects.
I have twenty years professional experience in working in theatre and film, creative writing and community arts. Alongside this amazing career I have moved into an academic field teaching acting and performance for over twenty years. More recently I have been teaching many subjects in Journalism , Media and Culture at Cardiff University and Drama and Theatre Studies at Cardiff Met, both at Degree level.
I have a Masters of Literature in Film Journalism and a MA Hons in Comparative Literature and Slavonic Studies. Further to this I have just completed a PhD, which is pending result.
