Hi. My name is Carol Fenwick. I am a piano tutor, with plenty of experience working with students of all ages. My teaching style is aimed at making lessons fun, interesting and engaging. I am essentially a classically trained pianist, but I try to focus my sessions as much on the student's needs, skills and abilities as possible, which of course means I am flexible. This does not suggest that I am against more formal or structured learning necessarily either, simply that I try to put the student first.
As well as being a musician, who performs regularly at local jams, recitals and open mics, I am also a published writer and performance poet, who has written books for children, though there's not point trying to look me up, as I write under a pseudonym! In my spare time I do a lot of practice and write my own songs too. I also dabble with a ukulele! Practice definitely makes perfect.
I am a qualified Teaching Assistant and have experience working as a nursery nurse and Creative Writing Tutor. I have also volunteered at mother and toddler groups and church Sunday School Clubs, as well as working at holiday and lunch time clubs.
I enjoy working with people of all ages because I am very much a "people person". I have also experience working with adults and those with mental health and learning difficulties, which requires a patient and empathic approach. I have been told I have such qualities.
