I am an experienced maths teacher currently working as head of mathematics in a local sixth form college and I am an experienced tutor of mathematics, chemistry, physics and general science.
I first began tutoring over 20 years ago and find it very rewarding. I have tutored maths and further maths up to A level and have also worked with science degree students on the maths content of their courses. I have tutored and taught science degree students and supervised masters and PhD student’s research work at university. I also coach kayaking and cycling.
A bit of background about me: I completed my degree in chemistry in 1993 and began my PhD in physical chemistry the following year. Following completion of my PhD I continued to work in academic research in physical and materials chemistry until 2002 when I changed career to work in industry. I initially started off as a chemist in an analytical laboratory before working my way into senior management in the automotive, chemical and oil industries. My areas of industrial expertise also cover quality, environmental and health and safety auditing and management.
I currently work as Head of Mathematics in a local sixth form teaching GCSE and A level maths including further maths. I also teach chemistry at A level in school. I have taught and tutored chemistry up to and including degree level and supervised masters and PhD students.
With regard to mathematics I have taught maths and further maths at GCSE and A-level and also taught science degree students the required maths content of their courses at university. When completing my teacher training I qualified as a maths teacher.
I also have experience tutoring physics at GCSE and A-level.
